What is your creative mission?

Writing for me is an opportunity to share ideas, to explore areas that have not previously been explored. For instance, in my epic fantasy series, I explore divinity in fantasy fiction, a significantly under-developed part of the genre, while in the Oz-Wonderland series I work to find common ground that exists between classic examples of fantasy.

What do you love about what you do?

I love to hear back from my fans most of all – I take a considerable amount of pleasure in entertaining others, and to hear back from my readers to know how they received what I have written is incredibly rewarding.

What have you learned from your successes/ failures?

The best thing I can say here is that failures are necessary, for without them you have nothing to compare successes to. For me, failures precede successes, and the former provide an opportunity to learn what not to do.

How do you keep pushing ahead after a difficult challenge?

Being stubborn. That is really the only answer I have here. You either surrender when things get difficult, or you stand your ground and press on. For me, just pushing forward is the challenge.

Have you ever encountered resistance from family, friends or the world in general? How did you overcome those kinds of blocks?

If anyone says they have not encountered resistance somewhere in their lives, they are not being honest. We all have to overcome the barriers placed on us by others, but I cannot say there is one specific way to overcome these kinds of obstacles. I have written one entire autobiography about challenges raised against me by my local government, and I could write another volume ten times as thick if I were to go into every challenge presented by others who have provided resistance to me in my life. I think the best thing that can be said here is that we are all individuals, and we have to be willing to stand as individuals when anyone – whether they be family, friends or whatever – tries to obstruct our direction in life.

How has your art and creativity healed you?

I have a philosophy in life: knowledge that is not shared has no value. I honestly believe that my art, my talent in being able to express myself through writing, has given me the opportunity to share wealth in a unique way that only a few of us in the world have ever had the chance to do – by laying the foundations for our own immortality through the value of shared knowledge.  I do not think there is a better way to build yourself, strengthen yourself, yes – even heal yourself, than to use your talents to empower others.

What are your NFA bullet points? What steps would you recommend for anyone who wants to kick some ass and get their creative dreams off the ground?

First and foremost, just do it. Do not let anyone tell you what you can or cannot do, because they are not you. Only you know what you are capable of achieving. This being said, do not let your pride stand in the way of seeking guidance along your path. The strongest of us out here know that we are not islands, that we have the greatest opportunity in human history to share and grow from our sharing. Stand strong, but do not stand alone.
