One of the most basic concepts of living a good life is rarely taught to kids.

Being of value to others, offering hope, service, inspiration.

We naturally gravitate towards this in one way or another. It feels good to help. It’s built in to our braincells. Our DNA.

But when we’re driven by our own fears, or selfishness, we tend to go in the other direction. Like eating too much ice cream, binging the Netflix show all day or buying useless stuff, it feels good for a minute, but it’ll catch up to you.

As artists, writers, musicians, creators— our creativity is part of the value we offer to the world. It’s our unique perspective and expression. It’s our vision, a way to communicate with all of these other humans in unique and powerful ways.

So if you feel it, being creative and expressing your experience is more than just something fun to do on the weekends. It’s a potent gift to give to the world.

How much has your favorite song, movie, novel, painting given to you? How have these things affected  your life?
